Over the past few years, many college students have experienced dramatic increases in the costs of college. Rent, food, and travel expenses can be controlled and minimized. However, state legislators seem to routinely ignore the need to minimize tuition increases. Legislators can get away with the charges because of the way in which financial companies automatically spot the money to those in need of aid. Most students chose to repay the loans after graduating and only then is the cost realized. I will be exploring why tuition rises so much each year over this semester, why the students bear the burden as opposed to the state governments (if attending a public school), and what projected tuition costs will be for generations later.
